From November 18th–20th, 2025, IPPF convened its General Assembly (GA) in Bali, Indonesia, hosted by the Indonesian Planned Parenthood Association (IPPA). Under the theme "Lead with Love, Care with Courage," the Assembly gathered 290 delegates from 111 Member Associations, including 86 youth representatives, alongside the Board of Trustees and the Nomination and Governance Committee.
The Assembly focused on three strategic pillars:
- Mid-term Review of Strategy 2028: An interrogation of progress and gaps, identifying necessary strategic shifts to address the climate crisis, shrinking civic space, and rising anti-rights backlash.
- Governance Excellence: The formal adoption of a new Charter of Values and the completion of nomination processes for governing bodies to ensure transparency and principled leadership.
- Collective Resilience: A renewed commitment to defending bodily autonomy in the face of escalating gender-based violence, political upheaval, and funding constraints.
A Turning Point in Leadership - The 2025 GA served as a historic transition for the Federation’s executive leadership:
- Alvaro Bermejo prepared to conclude his impactful eight-year tenure as Director-General.
- Maria Antonieta Alcalde Castro, a distinguished feminist leader, was officially welcomed as the incoming Director-General, set to assume office on March 1, 2026.
The Assembly concluded with a bold declaration of unity, positioning IPPF as an unstoppable force ready to meet the future of SRHR head-on with courage and collective power.
