The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. We are a worldwide movement of national organizations working with and for communities and individuals, guided by our Strategic Framework 2016-2002.

IPPF works towards a world where women, men, adolescents and young people, in all their diversity, everywhere have control over their own bodies, and therefore their destinies. A world where they are free to choose parenthood or not; free to decide how many children they will have and when; free to pursue healthy sexual lives without fear of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. A world where gender or sexuality are no longer a source of inequality or stigma. We will not retreat from doing everything we can to safeguard these important choices and rights for current and future generations.  As a leading advocate IPPF is part of a powerful wave of change. We contribute to reshaping subnational and national political contexts, influencing nationally, regionally and internationally to ensure that everyone’s human rights are fulfilled, protected and respected. The International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action (PoA) continues to guide the work of IPPF Member Associations around the world to serve every woman, a girl or a young person and support their sexual and reproductive freedom.

IPPF is comprised by more than 120 member associations working in 170 countries around the world, supported by six regional offices in Kuala Lumpur, Tunis, Brussels, Delhi, Nairobi, Bogotá and Trinidad and Tobago, and three intergovernmental advocacy liaison offices in Ethiopia for the African Union and in Geneva and New York for the UN. IPPF has a central office in London. In the last year, we provided more than 250 million sexual and reproductive health services all over the world. To better fulfil our core mission, IPPF started a reform process which changed its governance and financial allocation system and strengthened our safeguarding system. A new board of trustees was appointed in June 2020. 

 

Purpose of this consultancy

Develop a communications and PR Strategy for the positioning International Planned Parenthood Federation – The Americas and The Caribbean Regional Office as a leading organization in the defense, promotion and provision of sexual and reproductive health and rights and support the ACRO team for its execution.

Main activities:

  • Diagnosis of IPPF ACRO´ communication impact
  • Definition of audiences, impact, and key messages
  • Mapping the reputation of IPPF brand in the region and identify the niche/personality for the Americas and the Caribbean’s regional office
  • Define ACRO’s corporate visibility and articulate a strategy that will guide the Regional Office in its public outreach.
  • Create the narrative to address the niche identified.
  • Recommendations for growing our social media, publications in media and other communications and PR channels through innovative and creative solutions
  • Strategy to improve the user experience. (audiences)
  • Definition and start implementation of IPPF ACRO positioning campaign
  • Accompaniment of the first 3 months of implementation of the communications and PR strategy.

Reporting line

The consultant will report to the Advocacy and Communications Manager.

The consultant is under the obligation of confidentiality. Information, data, database, knowledge resources in the forms of briefings, reports, proceedings, articles, essays, etc. issued by and for the IPPF will be IPPF’s property and require permission for use and disclosure.

Expected days of consultancy: 

The consultancy starts on April 4th to and ends on August 15th, 2022. 

Location: 

The consultancy can be provided remotely from any country of the Americas and the Caribbean Region. 

 

Key Deliverables/Outputs 

  • IPPF ACRO Social Media and Digital Platform Analysis Report 
  • Guide for the strategic use of paid advertising on social media
  • IPPF ACRO Regional Mapping Report
  • PPT Presentation to ACRO on the strategy to position IPPF ACRO as a leader in the region.
  • Accompaniment during the first 3 months of the implementation

Selection criteria

  • Team, company, or consultant with expertise in communication, social marketing and public relations 
  • Experience of previous work on issues related to SRHR, gender equality, feminists’ movements and in social and politics contexts in the region.   
  • Outstanding command of English and Spanish is essential. French is desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of developing, implementing and evaluating marketing and communications strategies across a complex and diverse organizational structure.
  • Understanding of political, cultural, and socio-economic dynamics across the Americas and the Caribbean.
